NDIS Apply for Supports on the OUT list

Here’s the important info you need to know on how to apply for an item on the new outs list.

You can only request for a replacement of two categories on the outs list. Standard household items or for smart devices like watches, tablets, and smartphones used for accessibility or communication.

To apply, head to the NDIA website and fill out the replacement support application. You’ll need to specify what the item is, its cost, how it replaces a support in your plan, and how it helps you do things just as well or better than the NDIS support. No extra reports or evidence are needed!

Just explain how the replacement will help you be more independent or continue your daily activities. The NDIA will check if it meets their criteria, ensuring it’s safe and costs the same or less than what you’re replacing.

Keep in mind that this replacement support lasts only for the length of your plan. And if they don’t approve it, you can’t ask for a review, but you can reapply after 12 months or if your situation changes. Good luck!
