NDIS Banned Supports
NDIS Changes : Will I Incure a Debt?
During the 12-month transition period from October 3, 2024, the NDIA is implementing flexible debt policies for banned NDIS supports.
Participants won’t incur debts for banned legal items under $1500 unless they’ve been warned twice. For items over $1500, debts will be issued.
Only the NDIA CEO can raise debts during this time, after careful review. Participants can request debt waivers, and if denied, they can appeal.
This flexibility acknowledges the challenges in adapting to new rules.
However, after the transition, claiming banned supports not in your plan or without approved replacements will result in legally required debts.
Participants can still request waivers or appeal denied waivers in these cases.
