NDIS Buy A Bike

Thinking about adding an exercise bike to your routine?
There are some key points to consider!

If the bike is classed as modified, assistive equipment and essential for your recreational activities as well as related directly to your disability support needs, you will probably be able to claim this! These are items that are modified specifically for people with a disability.

If you don’t need a modified exercise bike, it will generally not be approved as a NDIS support, unless it can be approved under the General Household items replacement rules.

To be eligible under the replacement rule the bike the item would need to replace an existing funded support or assistive technology approved in your plan, helps you the same or more than the supports or AT it is replacing, costs the same or less and must be directly related to your disability support need.

If you are unsure, reach out to your NDIS planner, LAC or support coordinator, to discuss how an exercise bike can fit into your plan.
