NDIS Hair and Nails Treatment

Wondering if you can use your NDIS funding for hair and nail treatments such as hair cutting, dying and styling by a hairdresser or nail technician? Let’s break it down!

Unfortunately, items such as haircuts, styling, acrylic nails and nail painting are on the OUTS list and aren’t covered by NDIS funding.

These are classed as ‘day to day living costs’, which the NDIS do not fund.

We assume that this may be because these professionals are providing the products like the nail polish and shampoo for these services.

So what can you be funded for?

The good news is that if you are funded for personal care supports and your disability impacts your ability to wash your care or do your nails, the NDIA can still fund a support worker to do these for you.

Also, good news is that if your need for nail care arises from a disability related health reason, like ingrown nails, then services via a podiatrist can still  be covered.

But, remember the need must arise from your disability.
