NDIS Funding Periods

The new NDIA legislation comes with some changes to the way funding will be structured.

Annual Funding Cap:

The NDIA are introducing an annual funding cap. While your NDIS plan may span multiple years, you’ll have access to a maximum of 12 months of funding at a time.

Temporary 12-Month Plans: Until the PACE system updates however, all new plans will be set for 12 months.

Future Multi-Year Plans:

Once PACE is updated, you can opt for longer plans (2, 3, or 5 years), but funding will still be released annually.

Rollovers Across Years: Unspent funds from your first year? They’ll be waiting for you in year two.

Capital Budget Exception: And finally, need big-ticket capital items? This budget remains fully accessible upfront so you can use it whenever you want.

Customizable Funding Periods

In the future, you or the NDIA might have the option to choose shorter funding periods than 12 months.

Options may include 1-month, 3-month, or 6-month periods.
