NDIS Sexual Services
Let’s talk about something that might be on your mind but feels a bit tricky to ask about. It’s all about sexuality and the NDIS.
First things first, your sexual health and wellbeing matter. But there are some important things to understand about what the NDIS can and can’t fund when it comes to this area.
Here’s the scoop:
• The NDIS can’t fund sexual services. This means anything involving direct sexual activity with another person for payment is off the table.
• But don’t worry! The NDIS still supports your sexual health in other ways.
What can the NDIS help with?
• Adaptive equipment to help with intimacy
• Sex counselling to address concerns or questions
• Individualised sexual education to help you understand your body and relationships better
The key is that these supports need to be related to your disability and considered “reasonable and necessary”.
